Edward Christian Prescott
Profesor Edward Christian Prescott se narodil dne 26.12.1940 v městečku Glens Falls ve státě New York, USA.
Již od mládí ho bavila matematika a titul B.A. získal roku 1962 na Swarthmore College právě v oblasti své oblíbené vědy. Titul M.S. obdržel roku 1963 na Case-Western Reserve University za práci v oblasti výzkumu, titul Ph.D. v oblasti ekonomiky pak roku 1967 na Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
V současné době působí profesor Prescott na Arizona State University v Tempe, AZ, USA a dále pak také ve Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Minneapolis, MN, USA. Se svým spolu oceněným norským kolegou Finnem E. Kydlandem spolupracuje od konce 70. let a byl mj. hlavním konzultantem Kydlandovy doktorandské práce. Práce obou laureátů mají podle předních ekonomů významný dopad na nezávislost centrálních bank a přispěly k tomu, že se centrální banky zaměřily na jeden cíl, kterým je obecně cenová stabilita.
O současnosti se profesor Prescott vyjadřuje jako o „zlatém věku ekonomiky“.
Edward C. Prescott je mj. od roku 2002 držitelem akademické ceny University of Rome, od roku 2003 pak ceny Erwin Plein Nemmers.
Od roku 1965 je Prescott ženatý s Janet Dale Simpson, se kterou má syny Edwarda a Andyho a dceru Wynne.
